What the Christmas Season is Really About

What the Christmas Season is Really About

There are so many things going on tumors time of year, and many seem to forget what it's really about. Yes, it is about giving, love, joy, etc. etc. But there is a much deeper meaning, something that is truly the reason for the season. Christ. The Christmas holidays are really about Christ. It's amazing how even with Christ in this world- renowned holiday's name, so many forget what the day is about. It is about Christ's birth, and what we owe to our savior. The gifts  we give to one another represent those the three wise men gave to Jesus so long ago.
They also represent the greatest gift God ever gave us, Jesus Christ.
I invite you to remember the reason for the season.

In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

The Importance of Honesty

I apologize for not posting for over half of a year. I may still post occasionally, just not weekly. I also apologize for this lesson being much shorter than my previous ones.
Being honest often requires courage and sacrifice, especially when others try to persuade us to justify dishonest behavior. If we find ourselves in such a situation, we can remember that the lasting peace that comes from being honest is more valuable than the momentary relief of following the crowd.(1) Discuss the following quote:

"Honesty is more than not lying. It is truth telling, truth speaking, truth living, and truth loving."
~James E. Faust(2)

Spiritual Goals for the New Year

I apologize for the lack of posts the last couple of week.

Give each member of your family a blank piece of paper.

Ask them to write down a spiritual goal for this year onto it. You may or may not want to share.
Tell them to hang it on their wall or somewhere they'll easily see it.
Give each member of your family one of these handouts:
There will be a follow up lesson at the end of the year.
